We launched from
Wailea Beach and paddled our 6 man outrigger canoe straight into the line of moonlight on the dark water. A loud thwack! in the distance indicated a whale breach as the whale played in the moonlight. We turned to parallel the shore as a whale escort who was unseen, yet the breath heard, followed the same route. The soft light of dawn began to illuminate our world.

A small pod of spinner dolphins broke the surface of the lightening ocean. Interesting to hear the difference of breath between the two cetaceans. The whale has a loud, quick, forceful and strong breath, the spinner dolphin a gentle, relaxed breath.
We paused to take in the sunrise behind Haleakala Crater, The House of the Sun.

the moon and the ocean... divine!!!
